One From the Road

Hello! I’m in Florida, but in an effort to keep my New Years goals and intentions for 2014- I’m blogging, poolside no less!

It’s a bit overcast here today. But it makes perfect weather to type out this post on my iPhone.
Here’s a little update of my week: I spent some time drawing in my sketchbook- getting some ideas for MoCCA, which is coming up in April.
I started writing down ideas for a Woolins book—3 years in the making, I hope to have that written by the end of March.
I mailed out some postcards, well, my mom/assistant mailed them for me while I hopped a plane here! Hopefully her magic touch at the post office will bring some new clients.

Additionally, I planned out some ideas for my Etsy shop —I know I’ve been saying that forever, but it’s for real! Promise!
Last week I also launched my nerdy vegan food blog- Kale Breath!
Thanks pretty much it for now. I hope to draw more this week , get home, get back to the printmaking studio and make things !

Focus & Be Productive

Goal #7 : Focus and Be Productive!

So, believe it of not,  I have a tendency to get distracted—look over there! productive

These days its so easy to check one email, and 20 min. later I find myself surfing Pinterest for cool stuff for  “my dream home”.

In an effort to see what I could do about my lack of focus, I searched online for “how to focus better”.  I found that I’m on of those people with a short attention span– So it’s best if I work with a timer (like the kitchen timer I drew!!) . Make myself work and focus on what I’m doing for an hour and then take a 20 min. break and play with the dogs. I’m going to try it out, maybe it will make me feel less overwhelmed!

Also — In 2014, I’d like to do less mindless surfing of the web, and get more real stuff done! I want to print! I want to write books! I want to get more clients!

Sure I’ll schedule some time for mindless internet surfing, just not during the day when I should be getting work done. Maybe I’ll even cut myself off from toxic-sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram etc., and only go on to browse on Saturday and Sunday. It’s a thought. I have this urgent need to unplug and create– and the internet is killing me.

Cheers to getting more work done,

Hannah

2013, Year in Review

As the last day of 2013 approaches I figured it would be nice to recap my crazy-wonderful year. Here goes nothing :

January : I completed my “12DAYS” book, and I started researching a new website design tool, because I wasn’t happy with my old wimpy website. Lets just say it wasn’t as “badass” as it is now. ha.

April : I began sketches on my 2013 Summer Recipe Book, and I had business cards printed.  I also  took a road trip with my best guy and visited Maine. I saw a lot of beautiful things.

June : Took some time off, went on a trip with my illustration nerds, and continued work on the Summer Recipie Book.

July : I finished the book, and started blogging recipes from it. I also did a 2 part mailing of my bathing suit silkscreens, followed by my cocktail silkscreens. I also spent some time in Wildwood/Cape May, eating, running, lounging on the beach, and of course pickin’ the local antique store.

August : I moved my blog around. I took a trip down south to see my Nana and Aunt Pat, two of my biggest fans. I also, mailed out packets of my Recipe book to select publishers. AND I got my first paid illustration job ! Click here to see it!

September : I got my second  illustration job, for a sports publication. I also spend a lot of time just planning and thinking about what I want to do next. I drew a lot in my sketchbook.

October : I got my third job (with Baltimore Bride Magazine) ! Plus I got a new puppy, Welcome Hazel!

That’s my year in review.

I did a heck of a lot this year, even though I spent a lot of my time on beaches and away from my desk…

I graduated, and began working doing what I love and getting paid! I mean, who could ask for more?!

I cannot wait for what the next year has in store for me, I’ve got some BIG plans (stay tuned)

Cheers to 2014!
